New Year, Same Mission: Supporting Moms with Love and Purpose
At the end of December 2023, I welcomed my baby girl—a sweet ending to what had been an incredibly stressful and challenging year. Looking back, 2023 was a year of immense growth and resilience. I started a new job, but it quickly became clear that it wasn’t the right fit for me. That realization pushed me to take a leap of faith and follow my dream: opening my own private practice.
At the start of 2024, I began building this practice, and I’ll be honest—I was scared of failure. But I knew in my heart where my passion lay: supporting other moms. With years of experience working with trauma survivors, particularly those navigating PTSD and trauma symptoms, I also felt deeply called to address the unique challenges in maternal mental health. My own experiences as a mom along with stories I had witnessed made it clear that this was the path I was meant to take.
What I didn’t expect was how much this journey would transform me. Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of forming meaningful connections with maternal healthcare providers and welcoming some of the most incredible clients into my practice. These connections reminded me that the work of supporting moms goes far beyond therapy sessions. It’s about creating a community rooted in connection, authenticity, and vulnerability.
I’ve walked alongside moms navigating birth trauma, infertility, postpartum anxiety and depression, and the everyday chaos of motherhood. But I’ve also witnessed incredible victories: moms announcing pregnancies after loss and infertility, breaking free from traumatic pasts, healing broken relationships, and lifting themselves out of the heavy weight of postpartum struggles.
These women—their stories, their strength, and their growth—are why I show up every day. They are the reason I took the risk to go out on my own. And while I’ve grown so much in this past year, I’ve realized it’s not about me. It’s about serving and loving others.
Starting this practice while freshly postpartum myself in early 2024 wasn’t easy, but it taught me so much about resilience, balance, and commitment. This year, I’m looking forward to building on that foundation by offering even more support and resources for the moms I serve.
When I started this practice, I promised to show up 100% for every client and to do the same for my family. That promise still drives me every single day. Thank you to the incredible women, providers, and community members who have taught me so much over this past year. I love this work, these stories, and the people I’ve had the honor of serving.
With love,
Megan, LCSW, PMH-C
